Objectives

As the youth arm of Africa’s leading progressive political organization, the Progressive Youth Wing under the leadership of Hon. Dayo Israel continuously explores opportunities to spur young Nigerians and Africans, as well as leaders on the continent, to commit to actions necessary for the full harnessing of youth potential as the important premise upon which sustainable development can be attained. 

The Progressive Youth Award is one such initiative designed to attain this goal by clearly demonstrating the party’s appreciation of the valuable contributions of its young members and encouraging excellence and innovation through due acknowledgment and reward. 

It was also designed to commend leaders in various elective positions, including the Executive and Legislative branches of government, whose actions and policies have heralded meaningful inclusion and empowerment opportunities for young people, with the hope that such public celebration, including the spotlighting of the remarkable achievements of their actions, would encourage others in positions of power to commit to the similar line of action.

The 2022 edition of the award, staged before a crucial election, also aims at providing strong encouragement for influential and effective young leaders and mobilizers of the party to escalate efforts to ensure a total and complete victory of the APC and His Excellency, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the polls.
